March 2006

Dyne Technology Ltd has signed a contract to exclusively represent Tantec A/S of Denmark in the UK market and is now responsible for selling their Corona Treatment and Plasma Treatment. Being able to offer the Tantec range of Corona and Plasma surface treatment equipment is a real coup for us at Dyne Technology. We will now be able to offer our customers an even wider choice of high performance surface treatment technologies. We are very happy to partner with Tantec and are looking forward to a successful 2006.

March 2006

Dyne Technology Launch New SpotTEC Corona Treater

Dyne Technology has launched the new Tantec “high-frequency spot generator” – the SpotTEC onto the UK market. The new SpotTEC corona treating unit is a lightweight machine that makes it possible to connect not only one, but two treating heads to the same generator.

And if two treating heads are connected, it is possible to control them separately.

SpotTEC creates a high-voltage, high-frequency corona discharge to treat the surface of three-dimensional moulded or extruded plastic parts, profiles, pipes and cables, containers, etc. – prior to coating or printing.

The purpose of Corona surface treatment of polymer-based materials is to increase surface wettability through electrical discharge. The low surface energy of polymer-based substrates often leads to poor adhesion of inks, glues and coatings. To obtain optimum adhesion, it is necessary to increase the surface energy of the substrate to just above that of the material to be applied. Surface Treatment with Corona results in good wetting of the material over the surface of the substrate and so improves adhesion.

The Dyne Technology supplied SpotTEC creates a high voltage, low frequency corona discharge to treat the surface of 3-dimensional moulded or extruded plastic parts, profiles, webs, containers, etc.

An airflow presses the discharge towards the substrate to be treated and a counter electrode is not necessary. The electrical discharge creates the necessary functional polar groups on the polymer surface, which promotes adhesion and wettability to printing inks and adhesives.
